Well-being in the workplace through connection between person characteristics and organizational context

Health and wellness in the workplace is regarded as by many authors to be the result of the connection between person characteristics and people of the functioning and company environment. This study should understand the value attributed to the concept of well-being at work by personnel, its affecting factors, and, among all those, the function of specific psychological attributes. The research was conducted on a sample of 72 employees using a qualitative approach based upon focus organizations and individual interviews. Data analysis was performed by a paper and pencil approach. The focus teams and selection interviews collected 628 statements, which were divided into 3 main areas: meaning of well-being in the workplace (248), any sort factors that affect health in the workplace (158), and individual characteristics that affect wellbeing in the workplace (222). The individual characteristics identified by the participants because capable of influencing well-being in the workplace contain being positive, communication, administration of issues and conflicts, socio-emotional skills, and beliefs. The research was limited by the participants included and by the only use of the paper and pencil technique of data examination. Results emphasize that health in the workplace does not depend specifically on exterior conditions regarding the working and organizational environment within which the individual functions: so , it might be promoted not merely from above, through actions by management, nevertheless also coming from below, influencing individual attributes and behaviors. Results would be useful for developing training, work environment counselling, and organizational development activities was executed to support small groups, frontrunners, and other ideal players inside the construction of the subsystems of wellbeing in the workplace.
